From October 7 to 9, educators and project partners from across Europe gathered in Diest, Belgium, for the international meeting of the GrInnEd – Green Innovation: Make Education Sustainable! project. The event, hosted by KSD Derde Graad focused on sustainability in industry, innovation, and infrastructure, bringing together teachers to exchange experiences and develop new ideas for integrating green practices into education. The meeting began with a warm welcome and a tour of the host school, where participants were introduced to various sustainability initiatives. Each partner country presented its assignments, highlighting different approaches to promoting environmental awareness and innovation in their schools. Later that day, participants joined a city tour “Innovations in Diest – Projects,” led by the local civil council, exploring examples of sustainable urban development and green infrastructure.
The following day featured a visit to the Nike logistics center, offering valuable insight into how large companies are applying sustainable practices in their operations. After lunch, participants engaged in an evaluation and assessment session of the GrInnEd project, discussing achievements and future goals. The final day was devoted to creative brainstorming and workshops under the theme “What to invent next?”, encouraging teachers to design ideas that could make their schools more environmentally responsible and energy efficient. The meeting concluded with inspiring discussions and a shared sense of purpose — to continue fostering innovation and sustainability in education. The event reflected the strong commitment of all partners to building a greener, more sustainable future through collaboration and education.
